Flight For Youth

2019 brought the 25th Anniversary of our charity. To mark this milestone, we launched ‘Flight for Youth’ – a campaign to support and celebrate our work bringing hope, opportunity, stability and independence to local children, young people and families in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Many local businesses have kindly supported our charity by providing sponsorship or helping us with our services and activities. We are very thankful to them for their generous support. Particular thanks to our Headline Sponsor, Norwich High School for Girls. Please scroll down to see all of the businesses who have supported Flight for Youth this year.

As 2019 draws to a close, our butterflies continue to take flight. Let them inspire you and help us to bring hope, opportunity, stability and independence for the next 25 years to local children, young people and families who need our support by purchasing a butterfly of your own.

Youth Support & Activities

We provide positive activities for young people who have limited opportunities in life – perhaps they’re caring for a parent or come from a socially deprived area. A chance to escape their day-to-day pressures and be a child again is vital.

Housing and Homelessness

We provide young people with a safe, stable home and the skills they need so they can leave us and forge an independent life. In 2017 we provided over 40,000 safe nights accommodation for vulnerable young adults.

Emotional Wellbeing support

We help children and young people to talk about their feelings in order to build their self-confidence and resilience. We also help families to cope with situations which include physical and mental health issues and family dynamics.

Childcare

We provide childcare suitable for all children from just a few months to 13 years of age in safe, supportive environments, which gives parents peace-of-mind.

We want to end youth homelessness and we’re tackling the problem locally by providing a home and support to over 100 vulnerable young people at any time. £25 could buy a new duvet, pillows and covers for a young person when they arrive at one of our accommodation centres with few possessions of their own.

We deliver a range of services to support children, young people and families facing challenges. This includes helping children and young people to talk about their feelings in order to build self-confidence, resilience and helping them to recognise their ‘inner-wealth’. £95 pays for 3 sessions of emotional wellbeing support for a young person. We delivered 12,446 sessions of emotional wellbeing support to young people in local schools in the 2017/18 academic year.

We provide positive activities for young people with limited opportunities in life. Perhaps they’re caring for a relative or they come from a socially deprived area. In 2017/18 351 young carers attended groups sessions in Norfolk. £500 will pay for a residential trip for a group of young people to give them the chance to escape their day-to-day pressures and be a child again.

If you would like to make a donation, please contact Colin Lang MBE on [email protected].

Not only do we give vulnerable young people a safe and stable home, but support them with the skills they need so they can leave us and forge an independent life, and help them with their training, education and career.

In 2017/18 our Job Coach supported 127 young people to successfully move into employment, education and training. £1,000 could buy chefs whites and equipment to enable 5 young people we’ve supported to start building a career, gain confidence and news skills by beginning a catering course.

If you would like to make a donation, please contact Colin Lang MBE on [email protected].

Our work keeps vulnerable young people off the streets and helps prevent the local homelessness problem growing £10,000 could pay the rent deposit for private accommodation for 10 young people who are ready to move on from our accommodation centres.

If you would like to make a donation, please contact Colin Lang MBE on [email protected].
