Fairstead House

Fairstead House is the most recent addition to our housing and homeless resource and opened at the end of 2009 on the Fairstead Estate in Kings Lynn. It provides accommodation for up to 7 young homeless people, with the primary focus being on 16/17 yr olds. It is responding to a real need in the area as, until this facility was established, there was no available supported accommodation for young homeless people in the target group.

Fairstead House is a partnership between King’s Lynn Borough Council, The Benjamin Foundation and Saffron Housing Trust. The accommodation is classed as ‘short-term’, with residents staying anything from a few weeks to up to two years. The average length of stay is 18 months. Each resident has their own fully furnished room and shares a communal kitchen, lounge, dining area and bathrooms (x three).

The House is staffed 24/7 by a team from The Benjamin Foundation who work with the young people to develop support plans and help them in areas like budgeting, cooking, accessing training/education or counselling.  The principle aim of the project is to support residents to enable them to live independently. All residents are referred by King’s Lynn Borough Council and are predominantly from the King’s Lynn and West Norfolk area.
